Low back pain is one of the most common reasons for visiting the family doctor. Between 60% and 80% of North Americans will experience low back pain at some time in their lives. Back pain is estimated to cost between $25 billion to $50 billion US annually. In the United States, back injuries account for over one million work-related injuries each year, or about 1 in 5 workplace injuries and illnesses.
